Meet your healing companion...

Isabelle Heydt, MA

If you are here because a life-altering diagnosis has derailed your world, I know the terrain you are standing on. I have walked it.

At 16, I was diagnosed with Rheumatoid Arthritis and swept into a cycle of heavy pharmaceutical drugs and clinical waiting rooms. For ten years, I navigated a maze of pain and isolation, burdened by side effects from the very medications meant to heal me.

The turning point came at 25. My rheumatoligist told me I’d likely need a cane by my 40s and might never have children. He warned that staying on my medication was "safe" for the disease, yet those same drugs were too dangerous to be on while pregnant. Faced with that impossible ultimatum, I chose a different path: I decided to get off the medication "cold turkey" and take radical responsibility for my life.

In 2016, I set out to solo-hike the Appalachian Trail—a 2,190-mile scenic footpath from Georgia to Maine. I hiked that trail while actively battling RA, and I attribute that journey to my survival.

The wilderness became my greatest teacher. Stripped of modern conveniences, I learned to listen to my body and source a resilience I didn't know I possessed. On that trail, I decided to build the life I wanted—not the limited one the medical system predicted for me.

I built this platform for the teenagers and young adults in mind, those navigating a recent diagnosis, and for anyone who feels failed by the conventional medical model. If you are grieving the life you hoped for, hear this: I am standing on the other side telling you there are other options. You hold the profound ability to heal yourself. This is not "cure" this is an invitation to start living differently.

Healing is not meant to be a solo trek. True mentorship is about having someone beside you who has felt the weight of the pack and seen the view from the summit. Through the power of story telling and lessons learned the hard way, I hope to save you years of pain and trial-and-error.

Today, I am a mother to three children, each welcomed through unmedicated home births. My life is living proof that a different path is possible: I have been virtually pain-free for over 5 years. I live a very physically demanding life, free from the limitations I was once told were permanent. I deeply believe in a life outside of the conventional medical model as our first approach to living.

Our days are now rooted in nature, homeschooling, and regenerative farming. The lessons I learned on the trail live in our soil, our home classroom, and our kitchen table. Whether you are seeking a map out of a medical maze or building a sovereign home, you do not have to hike this trail alone.
